My own website is being neglected and it's been a long while since an update or new content, but clients come first.
So, just to keep my readers up to date... I am currently involved in various projects including building custom admin software for a web development company, helping with the build of a new website for a Dublin-based museum and handling the redevelopment of West Wood Club's website.
In technology news, Google's PageSpeed Insights (https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/) has recently become very harsh with its scores. Makes sense though. They are emulating how a website would load on a 3G signal, which a large percentage of website visitors would be using, unwittingly or otherwise.
So now the average WordPress website scores between 0%-10% and my own custom Laravel website only scores 50%. I can fix my website easily enough but WordPress is a more difficult beast to tame. Thankfully, and in good timing, I have discovered a modern development framework for WordPress which should get those scores back into the high 90s. We still have no idea how much weight Google give to these scores when they rank pages but ideally we need to get these scores up.
That's all for now. I must get back to the code.
