My training is complete
A few months back I entered a phase of intense study that would take my web development skills to the next level. I have recently emerged from that cocoon and I am now proficient in the following technologies:
- Git version control with GitHub repositories
- The Gulp build system
- Node package management (NPM)
- Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets (SASS)
- Webpack and Browserify JavaScript module bundlers.
- Composer PHP package manager
- Vagrant development environments with Virtualbox
- Laravel 5.3
- Laravel Package Development
To the layperson, all this means is that I can now build custom websites and web-based applications much more efficiently and in-line with today's industry standards, which results in faster development times and more reliable systems.
As part of the process of learning these new skills I have developed my own Laravel based administration package, which can be used as a base for creating all kinds of custom systems. If you are interested in some examples of the kind of system I am talking about then you can read my article on custom built administration systems here.
So that's where I am at the moment. There's still much to learn in this vast world of web technology but I'm confidently moving up the ranks of full stack web developers.
